UAS Design and Development

At HAMA, our UAV development is defined by custom-designed solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. We offer end-to-end capabilities—from structural hardware design and control software development to prototype manufacturing, assembly, and flight testing. This integrated approach enables us to deliver high-performance, mission-optimized airframes that align precisely with operational requirements. Through rapid prototyping and iterative improvement, we achieve a fast and efficient development cycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality UAVs customized to each customer’s specific environment and objectives.

Fixed-wing UAVs
Designed for long-endurance cruising missions, fixed-wing UAVs achieve extended range through highly efficient energy consumption. This is a core area of expertise that HAMA has focused on since the inception of our UAV program, continuously refining our technology.

VTOL UAVs
Key advantages of VTOL UAVs is their ability to operate in confined areas and sites with limited takeoff and landing space, such as mountainous regions, urban environments, and other complex fields. At HAMA, we possess advanced expertise in both structural and control system design to ensure a seamless balance between stable hovering and efficient cruising.

Multirotor UAVs
With multiple rotors enabling vertical takeoff and landing, these UAVs offer excellent hovering performance, making them ideal for observation, imaging, and transport in confined or complex terrain. At HAMA, we ensure stable flight through precise tuning tailored to each platform size—from ultra-compact indoor models to large-scale cargo carriers.
Aerial and Maritime Sensing with UAVs

We conduct aerial sensing using UAVs equipped with a variety of instruments, including optical, infrared, and multispectral sensors. These systems support a wide range of applications such as terrain mapping, infrastructure inspection, and disaster assessment. Additionally, our seaplane UAV HAMADORI enables observation and communication from the surface to underwater and seabed environments. HAMA’s platforms collect data across land, sea, and air—supporting diverse sensing and ISR missions.

Seafloor Slow-slip Observation
In collaboration with the University of Tokyo and Yokohama National University, HAMA successfully achieved the world’s first acoustic communication and ranging between a seaplane-type UAV (HAMADORI6000) landed on the sea surface and the deep seafloor (at depths exceeding 1,000 meters). This breakthrough enables high-speed, efficient, and real-time seafloor observation using agile UAVs—potentially replacing conventional vessel- or buoy-based methods.

Assessment of Coastal Damage from the Noto Peninsula Earthquake
Leveraging the capabilities of our seaplane-type UAV—capable of long-range flight without the need for a runway—we successfully took off from the coastal wavy waters of the Noto Peninsula to capture high-resolution and orthomosaic imagery of the earthquake-affected areas. This enabled rapid assessment of hard-to-access disaster zones, with critical information provided to local governments, the Self-Defense Forces, fire departments, and police agencies.
UAV Operation Training

We offer training programs using our in-house UAVs, allowing participants to engage in realistic, scenario-based exercises without concern for equipment damage or malfunction. These programs cover a wide range of competencies—from basic piloting skills and operational procedures to counter-drone training—supporting the advancement of user proficiency. Through operation logs and video analysis, we provide actionable feedback to accelerate the acquisition of effective UAV operation skills.

Counter-Drone Training
Experienced UAV operators simulate opposing forces to provide realistic training scenarios for confronting hostile or unauthorized drones.

Operator Training
Led by experienced UAV operators and conducted using a variety of in-house UAV platforms, providing hands-on, practical instruction.
